Moritz forestry tractor with forestry mulcher on scarp

What remains if the shepherd retires? Alternative methods to look after the environment and maintain types of habitat as well as FFH types - this was the subject of the TLUG event on 21 November 2018 organised by the LandSCHAFtspflege support network in Gangloffsömmern in Thuringia, Eastern Germany. A Moritz Fr50 forestry tractor featuring Pfanzelt forestry mulcher was also used on site.

At the end of November 2018 attendees were able to witness maintenance on plots near Gangloffsömmern as part of a practical demonstration. Attendees from the agriculture, landscaping and nature conservation sectors watched closely as the equipment removed differently sized timber. The power of machinery with forestry mulchers, that are also able to remove dense undergrowth, was as impressive as the way the lightweight equipment protects the ground.

The Pfanzelt Moritz Fr50 forestry tractor featuring Pfanzelt forestry mulcher was used throughout an area with fauna featuring a diameter of up to around 10 cm. The area was flat, but also featured a relatively steep scarp. It was not only the wet weather that made Moritz demonstrate its power when removing fauna, the equipment was also able to clearly demonstrate how it preserves the ground. The mulcher had no issues in removing the fauna featuring grass and undergrowth with a diameter of up to 10 cm.

Convincing Moritz application:
