The Moritz mini felling tractor was presented for the first time at the KWF Conference 2016 in Roding, East Bavaria. Only a few months after the market launch, the tree care and special felling company Lautenschlager uses one of the caterpillar tractors in the Upper Palatinate region of Germany. The journal Forstmaschinenprofi reports on this application in its current issue. The Schlossberg in Regenstauf, which towers about 95 metres above the Regen river and whose summit was formerly crowned by an impregnable castle, is now with its tower, restaurant and castle garden a multifaceted recreational area. A few years ago, a varied and informative nature activity area with with an extensive network of trails and a new information centre were created according to the concept "History meets nature". The care and safety of the kilometres of walking and hiking trails in the approximately 40-hectare site are a challenge. Many narrow pathsMartin Lautenschlager and his team have been contracted for 20 years with the care and safety of the paths, squares and buildings on the castle hill. “In the past, we used a skidder or a multipurpose tractor with cable winch to secure the cable for dangerous tree felling operations,” recalls Lautenschlager. "The scope for using large machines, however, was severely limited on the narrow trails, so often trees had to be felled by hand cables or rope climbing systems. Securing and removal of the trunks and branches were additional challenges.” ...
